The Great Hop Harvest 2010

At NB Milwaukee, we've got hops on the mind. As the summer sun sets for the year, hop farmers get busy. Late August and early September is the traditional time for hop growers in the Northern Hemisphere to harvest their fine crop. With each passing year the selection of hop varieties available to homebrewers has increased substantially. In the spirit of camaraderie with the men and women who work so hard to bring us lowly homebrewers tons of Humulus lupulus every year, we present “The Great Hop Harvest 2010”
We'd like to encourage you, the brewer, to learn more about the hop varieties on the market. Tell us what you'd like to try, and we'll brew a beer featuring that hop variety. The only restriction is what we're reasonably able to acquire. We may not make a Strisselspalt Double IPA, but we'll come up with a recipe that suits the six most requested varieties, and then put it on tap for evaluation.

So come on in to NB Milwaukee, and let's talk hops!

UPDATE 7/21: We have tallied the votes so far, and now present the top 14 hops! Come in and vote for your top 4 by August 1st!

  1. I've had a GREAT Pacific Jade IPA. It's so garlicky and oniony!
